Oscar fashion

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Miley Cyrus looked great, especially compared to others on the red carpet, in a fun variation of the blush/beige/champagne color trend that was seen on the spring runways.

The Best Accessories Award goes to Angelina: those fabulous emerald earrings, a simple clutch, and Brad. Enough said.

Amy Adams is always an ELIZA favorite. Here she looks beautiful and fashion-forward with chunky, jeweled-neck candy.

Most modest goes to Tilda Swinton. She looked elegant and reserved. The red lipstick saved the outfit for me: a punch of color.

Brides: It’s in the bag!

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Your super-cute, oversized Orla Kiely bag probably is not going to look awesome with your beautiful wedding dress. What’s a girl to do on her big day, when her touch-up bag is teeny-tiny? The key: carry only the essentials.

Waterproof mascara is an absolute must-have. Love, love, love Benefit’s Bad Gal Waterproof Mascara: all the oomph of the original Bad Gal, but it’s tear-proof and won’t smudge.

Don’t enter cakey makeup territory through excessive powder touch-ups. Use blotting paper first and powder only if necessary. We love Nurturing Force Blotting Papers. They come in a super compact, are lint-free, and will help remove oil, shine, and perspiration without disturbing the makeup application. The lavender-scented papers are a particular favorite for anxious brides.

Don’t ignore sunscreen on your big day. Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock gives you broad-spectrum protection, yet feels completely natural and non-greasy.

A long-wearing lip color is an absolute must. With so many kisses to be given, you want to make sure that nobody ends up with a lipstick stain, and the groom won’t want accidental gloss. MAC Pro Longwear Lip Color stays put and is available in a non-goopy, no-nonsense gloss topcoat or a mirror-shine luster topcoat.

Mandy Moore is engaged

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Us Magazine is reporting that Mandy Moore and rocker Ryan Adams are engaged. Moore was seen grocery shopping with Adams while wearing a ring. Her rep confirmed the engagement. Since Moore has been linked with DJ AM, Zach Braff, and Wilmer Valderrama, we are happy to see that Ryan seems like a much better fit. Congrats to the couple! We look forward to her next album, Amanda Leigh, out this May.
