Thursday, December 27th, 2007

When we find modest wedding dresses that don’t look like the typical cookie-cutter dresses we have to share!! J. Crew has these two chic modest wedding dresses.
The first is a crepe mimi t-shirt gown available now at jcrew.com
The second will be available in Spring 2008.

ELIZA is thrilled to have this, our third issue, under our skinny patent-leather belts! We have grown a lot since our premiere issue, in size and experience. This issue is filled with our staple articles: History Repeats Itself (first was Audrey, then Jackie, and now Katharine Hepburn); Fit to Be Tried Dresses, (everyday women in their favorite dresses); Heidi Steenhoek’s Must-Haves, (nailing exactly what is hot each season); and another of my favorites, The Guy’s Guide, which is a mini-tutorial on what matters to men and why we should know about it. We also have jam-packed five major fashion stories, featuring gowns, coats, accessories, little black dresses and everything wintry. We are constantly getting more comfortable with our place as the only fashion magazine for women who want to dress classic, stylish and demure.

Since our launch in June of 2007, ELIZA has been on television, in newspaper articles and on the most stylish people’s lips. We are grateful for the positive emails and letters of excitement, support and appreciation. Even men have written, glad their daughters can be modestly encouraged and their wives can be fashionably sustained.

With anything positive or popular you are going to have critics. ELIZA’s have mainly come from a few media outlets who think there should only be two boxes: the crazy, judgmental, right-winged, wacko religious, narrow-minded, potato-sack wearing box and the hip, trendy, sexualized, half-naked box. Having two extremes might bring the ratings up but it leaves women without any real help. Combine that with the sea of tube tops and mini-dresses and it’s easy to feel like the only one looking for something more wearable but not less fashionable. ELIZA’s success is proof that you are not alone. It is time to start asking designers to have you in mind when choosing the length of a hemline. And what exactly are advertisers selling when women are shown without clothes in an ad for clothes? The third box is full to the brim of women who are educated, creative, fashion-conscious, and on the hunt for clothes to feel comfortable in.

We will continue to pick up the scent of fashion and modesty. And bring it to you season after season in a pretty, chic wrapping.
