Giving Back: Amelia’s Dad

December 29th, 2008 by Summer

One of Eliza Magazine’s favorite photographers, Amelia Lyon, has recently found out that her dad has  ALS (other wise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease).  On her blog she explains “ I am reaching out to the world for help. I already know that my dad won’t survive this, but with help, he can be comfortable in his last months (hopefully years).”

Amelia has given us inspiration and enjoyment from her photographs and now we have a way to pay her back. Bid on a portrait setting or send check donations to ”Faye Brady” (Amelia’s grandmother) and on the bottom left part of the check write “Ken Brady handicap van fund”. Donations should be mailed to:

Faye Brady
1048 E. 13590 S.
Draper, UT 84020
Be sure to write your address clearly on the outside of your envelope and a deposit receipt for tax deductions will be sent back.

We <3 Brandon Flowers

The Killers — Inside the Music
by Brian Hiatt
Rolling Stone
Friday, Dec. 26, 2008

Flowers voted for Obama, but his politics have often seemed to lean right: He has expressed sympathy for George W. Bush in the past, and he criticized Green Day for singing “American Idiot” overseas. And he worries out loud that America is turning away from religion. “In England, the press treat [religious believers] like you believe in Santa Claus, and it’s turning that way in America,” he says, with obvious disapproval.

About the Company

Kay Unger New York was founded in 1995 by Kay Unger and Rob Feinberg. Their initial goal was to redefine the little black dress by introducing a feminine brand defined by color, style, quality, fit, and femininity. Today you can buy the line at Neimans, Saks, Nordstroms, Bloomies, etc. and see it on stars such as Oprah Winfrey, Vanessa Williams, Tyra Banks, Angela Bassett and Marcia Cross. Find a store or a website to buy online here.

About the Designer

Kay now resides in New York but is from Chicago and mother of two sons Sam and Max. She is an active participant in the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and former president of The Fashion Group, where she raised over $250,000 for cancer research, an effort she continues today with Stand Up To Cancer, an organization dedicated to ending cancer. Kay is on the Board of Directors of her alma mater, Parsons The New School for Design and serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Angie Harmon Makes It Three

December 19th, 2008 by Carrie

Angie Harmon and hubby, Jason Sehorn, added their third daughter to the family. Emery Hope was born on Thursday and joined big sisters Finley and Avery. We remember Angie’s Cookie magazine interview where she explained “We pray at meals, and then, before bed, Finley prays for her gecko and her sister.” Congrats to the Sehorn family.

Murder Solved

December 16th, 2008 by Summer

It is hard to imagine anything worse than having your child murdered. Nearly 30 years ago John Walsh experienced this loss and made an inspiring choice to make the best of his devastating experience. Walsh launched the America’s Most Wanted television series and his activism led to putting faces on milk cartons, opening missing person units in each police department, and starting fingerprinting programs. Today after all his work for others he is able to have some peace of mind. Police determined Ottis Toole, a serial killer who died more then a decade ago, was the killer. Walsh explained at a news conference, ”We needed to know. And today we know. The not knowing has been a torture, but that journey’s over.” Eliza is grateful for dads like John Walsh. It is impossible to say how many kids he has saved, but he is an example to all of us to get involved in the world around us and make it a better place.
