Why We Love Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett is a woman’s woman, possessing enviable traits of intelligence, elegance, and immeasurable talent. Her breakout performance as the infamous red-headed queen in Elizabeth garnered an Oscar nomination, but it was her flawless portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator that finally won her the Academy Award. Drawn to challenging roles, Blanchett seamlessly moves from the high elf queen in The Lord of the Rings to a Scottish World War II spy in Charlotte Gray to the loveable, chemically unbalanced love interest of Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thorton in Bandits, just to name a few.
Upon finishing her latest film projects, which include the latest Indiana Jones installment, Blanchett has decided to settle back into her Australian theater roots. She and her husband, writer Andrew Upton, have committed to becoming the co-artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company. After a decade of non-stop movie making, Blanchett says the decision to take root is motivated by her five-year-old son, Dashiell, who is starting school, and a desire to create a more settled family life for her children. Blanchett has a second son, Roman who is three, and is looking forward to more children in the near future.
Blanchett is one of the few celebrities with a plethora of modest looks to choose from. Her daring style is full of bold fashion choices, yet she always manages to look dignified. We here at ELIZA are inspired not only by Cate’s unique style, but also her amazing craft, commitment to family, and undeniable charm and class.
